Pioneering Cheerleading in Malaysia since 2001

When cheerleading was still in its infancy in Malaysia, founders Jaymee and Darius were hooked the minute they tried it. They met while competing at CHEER — Malaysia’s first nationwide inter-school competition back in 2001 — and went on to form the country’s first official national cheerleading team, bringing home numerous titles and becoming among the first Malaysians to attain internationally accredited certifications for coaching and judging.

Although they excelled academically (Jaymee holds a master’s degree in Engineering and Darius a bachelor’s in Performing Arts), both dreamed of turning their passion for cheerleading into a career. That’s when they joined forces to start Malaysia’s first cheerleading company — Cheer Aspirations — through which they have been working to spread their love for the sport ever since.

Over two decades later, CA has produced 110+ national titles and 75+ international titles, coached the Malaysian National Team for 6 years, and built a reputation as the trusted name in cheerleading across Southeast Asia.

THE PASSION BEHIND BRINGING CHEER TO LIFE

For founders Jaymee and Darius, cheerleading was never just a sport—it was something that changed their lives.
The pair first met while competing at CHEER, Malaysia’s first nationwide inter-school cheerleading competition, in 2001. What began as a shared interest quickly grew into a passion that would shape their future. Through cheerleading, they discovered opportunities, experiences, and lifelong connections that extended far beyond the competition floor.

As athletes, they had the privilege of representing Malaysia internationally and became among the country’s earliest internationally accredited cheerleading coaches and judges. Inspired by everything the sport had given them, they shared a common dream: to help others experience the same joy, confidence, sense of achievement, and belonging that cheerleading had brought into their own lives.

That dream became Cheer Aspirations.

Founded with a vision to develop athletes and grow the sport in Malaysia, Cheer Aspirations began as a passion project and grew into a lifelong commitment. Over the years, Jaymee and Darius have dedicated themselves to creating opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities to learn, grow, and succeed through cheerleading.

Beyond Cheer Aspirations, they remain actively involved in advancing the sport both locally and internationally through their work with the Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia (CHARM) and the International Cheer Union (ICU).

Today, the heart of Cheer Aspirations remains the same as it was when it first began: a genuine love for cheerleading and a commitment to helping every athlete reach their potential.

Whether athletes join to have fun, develop new skills, pursue competitive success, or simply find a place where they belong, the goal remains the same—to provide a fun, safe, and effective environment where they can thrive.

Cheerleading has always been more than a sport for Jaymee, Darius, and the Cheer Aspirations family. It is a passion, a community, and a powerful way to positively impact lives.
